Raag Having all Shuddh Swaras (Raag Bilawal)

When it comes to all shuddha swaras, the first raag that comes to everyone’s mind is the raag bilawal as it is the most common raaga among different raagas with all shuddha swars.

DISCOVERING THE RAAG

Raag Bilawal is sung in the early mornings ( pratah kaal pratham prahar) and is the raag that represents the emotions of ecstasy, devotion, positivity, and divinity. Similar is the nature of other raagas with all shuddha swaras.

AAROH-AVROH

Aaroh is when the notes of the raaga are sung or played in the ascending of the pitch and avroh is when they are sung or played in the descending order of the pitch.

The aaroh of the raag bilawal goes like –

Sa re ga ma pa dha ni sa

The avroh of the raag bilawal goes like –

Sa ni dha pa ma aga re sa

GAYAN SAMAY

The gayan samay or singing time of raag bilawal is pratah kaal prataham prahar that is the early morning time. It is because at different times of the day, the mood and energies are different and hence the raag sung should be matching the mood of the time when it is sung. Early mornings are associated with emotions like devotion, joy, freshness, and positivity and so is raag bilawal. Hence the singing time of raag bilawal is early mornings,
