Brindabani Sarang is a Kafi thaat raga. It was created by Swami Haridas. The associated mythology is that he brought Lord Krishna to earth by singing this raga which took the form of an idol that can still be seen in Mathura. One of the famous Ragas for the Sarang raagang, it is a popular raag of this family, together with Shuddha Sarang, and Madhyamad Sarang. The name Brindavani Sarang is a testament to its popularity in the region around Mathura.

Vrindabani Sarang, a raga variant linked to the Sarang Ang, is a member of the Sarang family. It is frequently performed and sung at various periods of the year to invoke a certain emotion. Traditionally, Raga Vrindabani Sarang is performed in the late hours of the afternoon, or more precisely, during the second prahar(time division) of the night.
